Love Yourself
Loving yourself is ultimately about “You”. It means giving time for yourself and not always putting someone else first. In fact, it is even said that if you take the time for yourself, you will then have more energy to help others. When you neglect yourself, you become depleted. After all why not? Just as you need food, water, and sleep, it is important that you take care of yourself emotionally.
How do you take care of yourself emotionally? Well for starters, stay positive and work to eliminate that negative inner voice that may tell you that you do not have enough time for yourself, or that others are too important. Whatever that negative story is, you must find the way to challenge and overcome it. Celebrate your accomplishments, and be your own best cheerleader! I know it is not always easy to do this, that’s why I strongly recommend surrounding yourself with positive friends who can also cheer you- I promise it helps.
I studied alternative medicine for years, and there are many ways to change that negative voice or the negative recording you may have grown up with. I am continually working on myself using alternative healing methods to keep moving forward to the next level. One of my favourite ways to maintain positive thoughts when I first got started was through ‘Positive Affirmations.’ Begin to say things like:
I am loved
I am successful
I am intelligent
I am powerful
Believe these statements you speak over yourself, and see how your thoughts and emotions begin to shift from negative to positive! And if you’re wondering about what practical actions you can take to love yourself, then I’ve got a great list of suggestions for that too!
Be confident
Buy yourself some flowers
Take yourself out to lunch
Get yourself manicure/ pedicure
Do something you have never done and have always wanted to do
I remember when I split with my ex husband, one thing I had always wanted to do was attend an Anthony Robbins event. Everything I had heard and read about him and his sessions was an inspiration to me. So one day I enrolled in his “Walking on Fire” seminar, booked myself a hotel and, -well you know what happened next- I walked on hot charcoals!!!
We all want to be loved, but we must first start with loving ourselves and then using the love we have to love others as well. If we do not like or love ourselves, then how can we expect others to like or love us? Open yourself up to new methods of loving yourself, and conquer the negative energies in your life!
Send out love and you will receive love.
Love, LK
