Father Time
Do you remember where you were in life ten years ago? Maybe you just started a new job, career, or business. Perhaps you got just got married, bought your first (or third) house, or had a child. Remember what you looked like back then? How has your life changed over the years, and what about it has stayed the same?
Change over time is inevitable, but I always think it’s amazing to look back and see how certain changes have helped me get to where I am now. I remember when I first wanted to open a gallery in the Hamptons, people told me I would never find a space, as shopkeepers in that area had all been there for years. Interestingly enough, I ended that year with not one, but two leases, and the Lucille Khornak Gallery is now entering its tenth year of business. You can now find even more exclusive content on our 1stDibs storefront.
As a portrait specialist, I have a diligently trained eye for detail and quality. I feel that this has allowed me to connect with artists all over the world who have their own unique stories to tell through their creative works. One of my long time favorites has been mixed media artist, Lynn F. Walker. Her latest collection shares incredible testaments of time, the way we age, and the way we see beauty in ourselves.
Sometimes my clients feel a slight hesitation when it comes time to book their annual portrait sessions because they are nervous about the way they look. Maybe they don’t like the way their face looks, or they are unsure about how to appreciate a recent gain or loss of weight. My answer to these concerns is the same every year; “Let go of your worries, and let’s document the love between you and your family as it truly is today.” So much media and social nonsense has blurred our vision of what true beauty is. True beauty comes from the inside, and the images we choose to surround ourselves with should inspire more beauty and positivity within us. Women especially need to know that they are beautiful, and with years of experience, I have learned how to help them embrace their beauty at every stage of life.
Time will always bring change. That is how life works. What we do with that change makes all the difference. Celebrate the special people in your life by documenting the special moments you share, make each house a home by filling it with vibrant works of art that exude feelings of warmth and positivity, and always always always remember to share your light and love with the world around you.
Love, LK
