What About The Children?

"Eat, drink and be merry," they said. "Maybe just a cigarette more," they said. "Put some records on while I pour," they said.

What about the children??

This time of year brings about all sorts of reasons for holiday cheer and celebration, and while we host our parties and attend various social events, we must remember the children. What will we do this year to give them the best winter experience of their lives? I recall years ago, when I had my niece and nephew here and NYC had one of it’s “blizzards,” we went skiing down 57th Street and saw a few other families doing the same along the way. It was really quite fascinating to see how the city spends the day when it’s “shut down.” Each year, there are several things you can do with your children to make the most of the season. Here are some of our favourite recommendations at studio:

Take Them to See the City

New York City is a place of marvel and splendor, especially during this -the most wonderful- time of year, and what I love most about the winter here is that some of the most beautiful city scenes are made magical with holiday decorations most people would have never even imagined. Check out this video of the Saks display and see for yourself! These displays are simply stunning, and snowfall just makes the visual even prettier.

Visit the Ice Rink

Whether it be The Rink at Rockefeller Center, Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park, LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park, or any of the other amazing sites in the area, you’ll be sure to unlock the inner Yammaguchi in your little ones like never before. Book skating lessons, or set a reservation to roam the ice in your own way.

Frolic in the Snow

Snow Angels, Snow People, Snow Forts, and anything else you and your children can imagine! Nothing says “it’s winter,” like the snowfall on a perfectly brisk day. Make the most of it by embracing the chilly precipitation with fun activities that only come around during this season!
